Veterans Valor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a collaborative initiative with the Morris County Park Commission, Rotary District 7475, and local veterans and health groups. Our mission is to support and honor veterans through The Healing Garden at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, uniting nature, art, and community to restore peace and purpose.
Healing what service and war have scarred. We build The Healing Garden and allied programs that bring disabled veterans and civilians into wholeness, body, mind, and spirit, transforming pain into purpose and isolation into community.
Our project aims to create significant benefits for veterans and the community alike:
Stories Told
The Garden invites veterans to share their experiences and the public to listen, creating understanding, respect, and unity through honest dialogue.
Social Connection
By bringing veterans and civilians together in shared purpose, we help turn isolation into
community and strangers into friends.
Physical Healing
Horticulture, movement, and hands-on engagement with the earth promote physical well-being, coordination, and rehabilitation.
Accessibility and Inclusion
Every pathway, planting bed, and seating area is designed to be barrier-free and welcoming,
ensuring that every veteran and visitor can take part fully in the experience of healing.
Psychological Healing
Through the calming power of nature, art, and service, the Garden helps reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, restoring inner balance and hope.
Every veteran’s journey is unique, but many share common experiences as they transition from the battlefield to their homes. Our community seeks to heal by sharing stories in the presence of nature and creative expression.

Get Involved.
Join us in supporting our veterans! We invite you to be a part of the Veterans Valor project. Here are ways you can help:
Whether you wore the uniform or stand in gratitude to those who did, Veterans Valor invites you to be part of this living mission, healing what service and war have scarred. Together, we are building The Healing Garden and the community that grows around it.
Join a brotherhood and sisterhood of purpose. Share your story, lend your voice, create art, plant gardens, and help guide the design and programs that serve those who follow. Healing grows stronger when veterans lead it.
Every contribution helps build The Healing Garden and sustain programs that support veterans and their families while educating the public. Your gift builds a place where healing, remembrance, and renewal take root.
Be present at our events, groundbreakings, workshops, and gatherings that honor service and strengthen connection. Veterans, families, and citizens alike are welcome.
From all they have lived, the hardship and the honor, the courage and the camaraderie, veterans help renew our purpose and remind us what it means to live with peace, values, and meaning.
