Veterans Valor is a collaborative initiative with the Morris County Park Commission, Rotary District 7475, and local veterans and health groups. Our mission is to support and honor veterans through The Healing Garden at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum and the Disarm PTSD campaign, uniting nature, art, and community to restore peace and purpose.
To honor and stand with those who have served, transforming the scars of war into spaces of healing through nature, art, and human connection.
Through our Healing Gardens and supportive programs, we bring veterans and civilians together to restore body, mind, and spirit, turning pain into purpose, isolation into community, and sacrifice into hope.
This effort is part of Veterans Valor’s ongoing Disarm PTSD campaign.
Our project aims to create significant benefits for veterans and the community alike:
Stories Told
The Garden invites veterans to share their experiences and the public to listen, creating understanding, respect, and unity through honest dialogue.
Social Connection
By bringing veterans and civilians together in shared purpose, we help turn isolation into
community and strangers into friends.
Physical Healing
Horticulture, movement, and hands-on engagement with the earth promote physical well-being, coordination, and rehabilitation.
Accessibility and Inclusion
Every pathway, planting bed, and seating area is designed to be barrier-free and welcoming,
ensuring that every veteran and visitor can take part fully in the experience of healing.
Psychological Healing
Through the calming power of nature, art, and service, the Garden helps reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, restoring inner balance and hope.
Every veteran’s journey is unique, but many share common experiences as they transition from the battlefield to their homes. Our community seeks to heal by sharing stories in the presence of nature and creative expression.
